Where else can you have this much fun for five bucks? (Nowhere!)

The Event

Carrollton’s new signature event, Festival at the Switchyard, provides two days of family-friendly, community-centered fun and big-name entertainment. The Festival boasts an endless array of free kid’s games, rides, and activities that will keep them busy for hours on end. A seating nearby offers parents the chance to keep an eye on their little ones while enjoying food, snacks, and beverages. In addition to headline entertainment, a battle-of-the-bands playoff, where local favorites will compete for the chance to open for Saturday evening’s top entertainers and a $1,000 prize is part of the fun. You’ll get to text your vote for the band of your choice and see if your pick wins. In addition to our regular festival food vendors, there are great restaurants, boutiques, stores, shops, and other services. The festival will be held on the streets of Historic Downtown Carrollton on the east side of I-35E, between the George Bush Turnpike and LBJ Freeway at Belt Line Road.

The Switchyard

The Festival honors the role that rail has played in the City’s history and it’s importance today and in the future. Three DART Green Line stations go into service here this year. And we don’t want to forget that it was the railroad that first put Carrollton, part of the historic Peters Colony settlement, on the map a century and a half ago. Three train lines still cross paths in the Switchyard just north of our Festival site which is part of the larger Switchyard District.
