Carrollton, TX — The City of Carrollton proudly announces that Robert Earl Keen will headline Festival at the Switchyard’s 2010 Saturday night entertainment lineup. His “The Road Goes On Forever” is — some say—one of the greatest country music songs ever recorded and is just one of the many hits this South Texas, singer-songwriter has written.
Keen began playing and performing on the front porch of a rent house in 1974, where good friend and neighbor Lyle Lovett often played along. His last album, The Rose Hotel, was released in September, 2009, and ranked among Country’s top 20 albums.
Keen joins a previously announced Festival lineup of Polyphonic Spree and the Old 97s, who will be featured on Friday night. The inaugural, two-day, outdoor event takes place October 22-23, 2010 on the downtown Carrollton Square. The site, just east of I-35 on the south side of Belt Line Road, is mid-way between George Bush Turnpike and LBJ Freeway. In addition to the exciting concerts by Keen, Polyphonic Spree, and the Old 97’s, great food, beer and wine, arts and crafts, live entertainment, interactive games, and activities for smaller children are planned.

Carrollton, TX — Polyphonic Spree will join the Old 97’s as part of the 2010 Festival at the Switchyard talent lineup, the City of Carrollton announced today. The self-described “choral symphonic rock” group was inspired by 70’s experimental rock bands ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) and Dallas’ St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church choir. The band, which has opened for David Bowie’s “Reality Tour” and been featured in popular TV shows, consists of 23 robe-clad vocalists and musicians.
The Dallas area group, which debuted in 2000, have been described as a combination of the Beach Boys and the Flaming Lips, with a dash of Godspell.
